SEND Parent Drop‑In Volunteer

Location: North Birkenhead, Central Chester, Ellesmere Port

At Koala NW, we know just how valuable peer support can be, especially for parents and carers of children with SEND. That’s why we’re looking for volunteers who can use their own experiences to offer warmth, understanding, and reassurance to others on a similar path. Following comprehensive training, you’ll help to co-facilitate a weekly drop-in session at a local family hub or children’s centre. With the support of experienced SEND practitioners, you’ll help create a welcoming, non-judgmental space where parents can connect, ask questions, and feel less alone. Each session lasts around two hours, and your role might include listening, sharing practical information, signposting to services, or simply offering a friendly cuppa and conversation. In return, you’ll receive ongoing support, regular supervision, and the chance to be part of a close-knit volunteer team making a real difference.

Tiny Teeth Community Volunteer

Location: Liverpool

Koala North West are recruiting for Community Volunteers within our Tiny Teeth Project in Liverpool. Sadly, Liverpool has one of the highest rates of child tooth decay in the country. Our Community Volunteers attend events across Liverpool to talk informally to parents with a view to raising awareness of tooth decay in children and to offer individual advice and support (including distributing free toothbrushes and toothpaste). What do we want from you? You would welcome your help to staff a Promotional Stand, and support our Project Co-ordinator at various events. You will need to be able to travel across the Liverpool region (expenses paid) and be comfortable talking and offering information to individual parents. You do not need to have any previous experience as full training will be given. You do need a non-judgemental attitude and a genuine desire to help improve the oral health of local children. Your input can genuinely help put an end to unnecessary pain and illness. You will need to have access to a computer or tablet, in order to take part in a number of online training sessions that usually take place in the early evening. If you are interested in making a real difference to the health and lives of our children, and can offer a couple of hours per month on an adhoc basis, we would love to hear from you.
