Oral Health and Peer Support Service
Koala North West, funded by Liverpool City Council, provide Oral Health and Peer Support Service for families with children 0 – 7 years called Tiny Teeth Liverpool. The aim of the project is to improve Oral Health for Liverpool children and their families to provide them with the best possible start in life.
What is Peer Support?
- Informal support and reassurance from another parent with lived parenting experience, who have been trained and carefully recruited
- Provision of emotional support and practical help
- A safe space for individuals
What are the Benefits?
- Improved family oral health
- Build parental confidence
- Help family engage with other services and / or dental care
- Improved family well-being
What Support is available?
- Visits from a peer supporter / oral health champion
- Information and signposting to a range of services
- Free oral health information and resources – such as toothbrush / toothpaste
Support for the wider community:
Tiny Teeth Liverpool provide Oral Health promotional events, support for Early Years settings and schools to upskill their work force around the key oral health messages and support to access the All Together Smiling Supervised Toothbrushing Program.
